The Skeleton Key

The story is based on a young woman who gets caught up in the middle of a group of Hoodoo practitioners. (Hoodoo is an old African American magic that just like Voodoo, will only work if the user/affected believe in it.)

The young woman is called Caroline (Generally the main characters of horrors appear to be young and attractive..?). She gradually becomes more and more suspicious about the house she lives and works in, and the lady who owns the house adds to the creepy atmosphere. Caroline discovers a 'secret door' in the attic, and when she investigates the lady of the house (Violet) says she has never been in the room and doesn't know whats in there. Caroline eventually makes her way in to the room after a climatic series of events, she discovers blood, bones, skulls and an assortment of Hoodoo practicing items (spellbooks, recipes).

It is mentioned at this point that the reason Ben (The man Caroline is looking after in the house) had a stroke when he had been in the attic. Suggesting the black magic had been happening upstairs. Caroline doesn't believe in magic but decides to learn about Hoodoo anyway to understand what is going on, and eventually it turns out she does start believing and it is to her demise.

The film contained violence, disturbing images, some partial nudity and thematic material.

The film was rated 6.5/10 from IMDb.
